YouTube Playables Brings Games To Premium Users On Mobile And PC: What Is It And How It Works
YouTube user have the option to watch ad-free video if they pay for the service and now they get more features and reasons to become a paid user.

YouTube has been in the news for the past few weeks and the reasons are varied. The platform is going heavy on ad blockers and acting on users who use it to block ads on the platform. But now, there are some regular updates from YouTube which has launched Playables for its Premium users, the same who won’t see ads between videos and even have the option to play videos in the background.

YouTube is bringing games to the platform for its paid users which puts it in competition with companies like Netflix which is also betting big guns on online gaming. Playables seem to be Google’s effort to rechristen Stadia which was its online gaming platform aka Apple Arcade but the company decided to shut it down for some reason.

YouTube Playables is likely to offer popular arcade games in the initial phase with other popular titles expected to feature for the paid YouTube users in the near future.

YouTube has said that Playables doesn’t need another app on your phone to work and instead you just need to enable the feature through the regular YouTube app settings. The arcade games will be available for YouTube Premium users on the mobile app and the PC version as well. The other intriguing part about Playables is that the tab will offer around 37 games for the time being, which includes popular names like Angry Birds Showdown.

The platform has started notifying some premium users about Playables and how they can use the new tab on their YouTube account. Strangely, YouTube also mentions that Playables will be available till March 28, 2024 which is around 4 months from now, and will probably see the popularity of the tab to decide whether it wants to continue with it or shut it down like Stadia was earlier this year. As the name suggests, if you don’t pay for YouTube, you can’t enjoy videos ad-free, background playback and Playables as well.
