‘No Restriction on Anyone, Ram Belongs to Everyone’: Congress’ Moily Says Don’t Politicise Ayodhya Event
When asked whether he will attend Pran Pratishtha on January 22, Congress leader Veerappa Moily told News18 that the party high command has said those who want, can attend it. It is a logistics question now, he says

The ‘Pran Pratishtha’ at Ram Temple in Ayodhya is just 10 days away. Ram Mandir inauguration being the most awaited and grandest event of the 2024, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, will see top political leaders, celebrities, sportspersons and intellectuals in attendance. News18 spoke with senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily, who was rather evasive when asked if he will attend the event.

Moily told News18 in an exclusive interview that there is no restriction imposed on him, and that the Congress high command has permitted those who want to attend the event on January 22.

He said the consecration ceremony is being “politicised” under the guise of Ramayana, which is not “fair”.

Edited excerpts:

Q: Congress has said they will not attend the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, would you go?

A: I have heard that the high command says those want to attend can go. There is no prohibition imposed on anybody. After all, Ram belongs to everybody, including me.

Q: Will you go?

A: Going is different, whether we should go or not is a logistics question. We adore Ram and Ram is in my heart. I don’t think it is in the heart of every BJP member. I have written an epic poem on Ram himself.

Q: Would like to be part of such a landmark event?

A: I do not call it an event. Ramayana is an event, but today under the guise of Ramayana you want to politicise it. I don’t think it is fair. Rather it is an anti-thesis of Ram’s philosophy.

What's your reaction?
