Nothing Could Be Working On A More Affordable Phone; Design Leaked Online

Nothing, the London-based startup founded by Carl Pei, may be working on an affordable version of the Nothing Phone 2, currently dubbed as the Nothing Phone 2a. This could be a more budget-friendly device by the brand, potentially marking its third smartphone launch.

Nothing has not announced anything regarding the alleged handset. However, tipster Sanju Choudhary, known as @saaaanjjjuuu on X (formerly Twitter), claims that Nothing is developing a new smartphone. Choudhary says that it is not the Nothing Phone 3, as some might assume. Instead, it could be named the Nothing Phone 2a and carry the model number AIN142.

The tipster has also shared an image of the said phone, and based on its appearance, the device seems reminiscent of the outgoing Nothing Phone 2 and the earlier Nothing Phone 1, featuring the same glyph lighting system and the signature transparent back design. Furthermore, potential specifications of the phone have been disclosed, suggesting a 6.7-inch OLED panel and a center-aligned hole punch cutout for the front camera.

It’s important to note that Nothing has remained tight-lipped about this development, neither confirming nor announcing anything. Therefore, until the brand provides official confirmation, all information should be taken with a grain of salt.

Currently, the brand offers both the Nothing Phone 2 and its predecessor, the Phone 1, in the Indian market. The base variant of the Nothing Phone 2, with 8GB + 128GB, is priced at Rs 44,999. The 12GB + 256GB model is available for Rs 49,999, and the higher 12GB + 512GB variant is priced at Rs 54,999. The phone features a 4nm-based Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, representing a significant upgrade from the Snapdragon 778G+ found in the Nothing Phone 1.
