2024 Mercedes GLS debuts in India at Rs. 1.32 Cr, flaunting refreshed design, tech upgrades, and powerful engines with mild hybrid boost.

The 2024 Mercedes GLS has just been launched in India, and it’s making heads turn with a starting price of Rs. 1.32 Crore for the GLS 450 petrol and Rs. 1.37 Crore for the GLS 450d diesel, (all prices, ex-showroom).

This facelifted model, globally unveiled in April last year, boasts subtle yet striking updates inside and out, along with an extended list of features.

The German mid-cycle refresh maintains its signature design, but a closer look reveals some refreshing tweaks. The larger grille flaunts a bold 4-slat design that’s hard to ignore. The lights, both front and rear, maintain their shape but showcase new detailing. Additional changes include revamped front and rear bumpers for that extra touch.

Inside, the cabin largely retains its charm, but the spotlight is on the new steering wheel. Alongside this notable change, minor updates like upholstery color scheme variations are available, providing multiple options for customization.

The 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system boasts an updated MBUX system with a revamped user interface. It’s got wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the MBUX offers three display styles (classic, sporty, and discreet) and three modes (Navigation, Assistance, and Service).

Safety and convenience take the front seat with the standard Parking Package, featuring a 360-degree camera and the innovative “transparent bonnet” function. This function offers a virtual view under the front of the SUV when the Offroad mode is active, making parking a breeze.

Under the hood, the Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 boasts a powerful 3.0-litre, in-line 6-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, delivering 381 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. Paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, it accelerates from 0-100 km/hr in just over 6 seconds.

The GLS 450 also features Comfort and Eco modes for a tailored driving experience. The alternative engine option is a 3.0-litre diesel powerplant generating 367 bhp and 700 Nm, with an extra boost of 20 bhp and 200 Nm thanks to the mild hybrid system’s ISG.
