Man's 'Gurgaon Night Life Competes With Mumbai' Post Has Many Giving Him Reality Check, Here's Why
'X' user compares Gurugram's night life with Mumbai but Desis show him the real scenario.

On micro-blogging site ‘X,’ formerly Twitter, a recent post featured a picture from Gurugram showcasing the late-night bars and restaurants scene, prompting the user, @VishalBhargava5, to draw a comparison with Mumbai. Alongside a photo purportedly from WorldMark, Gurugram, Vishal wrote, “Gurgaon nightlife almost competing with Mumbai now…”. The post quickly went viral, sparking a discussion that delved deeper into the nuances of comparing these two cities.

As the conversation unfolded, people began sharing differing perspectives, emphasising the importance of safety in any discussion about nightlife, something rare in Gurugram. One user highlighted, “What makes Mumbai’s nightlife special is that you will reach home safely even if you are alone and pass out in the middle of the road. Not sure if any city, let alone Gurgaon, can come even close to Mumbai in that regard. Mumbai offers experiences and safety.”

Another user added, “If a woman can walk out, dead drunk, at 2 in the morning, and reach home unmolested – then Gurgaon will compete with Mumbai. It is not about what is inside the spaces, but the way people behave outside.”

A third user summed it up, saying, “This is the glitzy part of Gurgaon but the most unsafe place to be in when a problem strikes.”

However, there were those who injected humour into the conversation. One user commented, “Bangalore left the chat at 11PM.” Another humourously remarked, “Punekar- we celebrate our nightlife every between 1pm to 4pm.”

Adding a touch of wit, a third user joked, “Gurgaon flood is also competing with Mumbai flood.”

As a result, the post garnered a mixed array of views, accumulating over 1.3 million views on the site.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time Gurugram has been compared to other cities, albeit for different reasons. Earlier, a Twitter user shared an encounter with a Gurugram cab driver who went above and beyond with his hospitality. According to the tweet, the cab driver called the user immediately after the ride was confirmed and said, “Bhaiya Samosa khaa raha hu, 5 min ruk jaaiye” (“Brother, I am having samosas, please wait for 5 minutes”). The user agreed to wait at the main gate, to which the driver kindly offered to bring him a samosa as well, saying, “Aap bhi khaaoge to 1 le aau?” (“Do you want me to bring one for you too?”). This thoughtful gesture left the user amazed and prompted a comparison with their usual cab rides in Bengaluru.
