We have managed to collect one crore signatures in support of abolishing special entrance fee in temples,” he said.“We urge the government to take steps towards abolishing special entrance fee at temples,” he said.Manoharan said that the special entrance fee charged was too high. “Today, a minimum fee of Rs100 and a maximum of Rs 500 is charged. This cannot be afforded by all,” he said.Manoharan added that if the maintenance temples was a matter of concern, the funds procured through hundi collections could be utilised for the same.“Temples can utilise the funds procured through hundi collections for their maintenance.People go to Sabarimala for free darshan and there is no such criterion as special entrance fee.
