Toyota Hilux Hybrid 48V: Specification and Features

The vehicle comes with a diesel engine mated to a compact motor generator, driven by a belt system that will charge the new 48V lithium battery. It is small enough to be installed under the rear seats and helps to minimise the impact on cabin space and weighs just 7.6 kg. The 48V battery also supplies the vehicle’s 12V system.

The battery is completely charged when the truck is decelerating with the use of brakes and once it’s done, it can send up to 16 bhp of power and 65 Nm of torque through the motor generator.

The engine has been modified to adapt to the hybrid system. A 2.8-litre diesel engine complemented with the 48V hybrid system, it will enhance acceleration and efficiency while maintaining the vehicle’s famed durability. The hybrid system will also improve efficiency by 5 percent compared to non-electrified models, especially in urban settings.

Talking about its look, the Hilux Hybrid 48V retains the classic look, while sporting a bold grille and spacious interior with advanced safety and infotainment systems. Apart from the tweaked powertrain, the new Hilux Hybrid 48V also gets six driving modes including Dirt, Mud, Rock, Sand, Deep Snow, or Automatic.
