The Army Public Schools are considered as some of the most popular institutions in the country. The organisation running these schools is the Army Welfare Education Society. According to reports, there are more than 130 Army Public Schools in the country. Initially, these schools were known as the Army High School. In 2011, it was renamed to Army Public School. These schools were built with the aim to educate the children of people who serve in the army. Check this article to know more details about the eligibility, entrance test and fees of these schools.

The admission here is held on-priority basis to the children of military personnel which includes the DSC (Defence Security Corps), children of widows of the military personnel, and the children of territorial army personnel who have been in the service for 10 years. The children of ex-servicemen are also given admission here, followed by those of the Air Force and Navy.

Age Limit for students:

Class 1: 5 years

Class 2: 6 years

Class 3: 7 years

Class 4: 8 years

Class 5: 9 years

Class 6: 10 years

Class 7: 11 years

Class 8: 12 years

Admission Process:

The interviews are conducted only for the children taking admission in Class 1. If a student was previously admitted in an Army Public School for 10 months, he or she does not have to give an interview.

Students have to appear for an entrance test for every class. In the entrance examinations for the classes between 2nd and 5th, questions are asked from the subjects of maths, Hindi, and English. In the entrances for classes 6th to 8th, questions are asked from the subjects of maths, Hindi, English, and General Knowledge. For classes 9th and 10th, questions are asked from Maths, Hindi, English, science and general knowledge.
